Brief details
The joint-venture started in 1991 to brew Carlsberg beer in Thailand, and in 1994 the Chang brand was created. It managed to win 70% of market share in Thailand after a hard market fight with the previously biggest brand
Singha.
In 2004 a deal was agreed for Chang to sponsor
Everton of the English Premiership.

Chang is the Thai word for
elephant, an animal that has cultural and historical significance to Thailand. The logo for Chang Beer features two elephants facing one other.
Chang is brewed as
Original for the domestic market at 6.4% abv; and as
Imperial for the export market at 5% abv.
