70   Prince and later Emperor Domitian marries Domitia Longina.

190   A part of Rome burns, and emperor Commodus orders the city to be rebuilt under the name ''Colonia Commodiana''.

220   Cao Pi succeeds his father Cao Cao as ruler of the Kingdom of Wei, and proclaims himself Emperor Wen of Wei

268   Victorinus becomes the fourth Emperor of the Gallic Empire, following the murders of his predecessors.

271   Victorinus, Emperor of the Gallic Empire is assassinated by Attitianus, reportedly for reasons of personal revenge. Domitianus presumably serves as Emperor for a few days before replaced by Tetricus I.

685   Justinian II succeeds Constantine IV as emperor of the Byzantine Empire.

781   Emperor Kammu succeeds Emperor Konin as emperor of Japan.

1000   Emperor Otto III makes pilgrimage from Rome to Aachen and Gniezno (Gnesen), stopping at Regensburg, Meissen, Magdeburg, and Gniezno. Congress of Gniezno (with Boleslaw I Chrobry) was part of pilgrimage. In Rome, he builds the basilica of San Bartolomeo all'Isola, to host the relics of St. Bartholomew.

1002   All-out war breaks out between Byzantine Emperor Basil II and Bulgarian tsar Samuil.

1028   Dying Emperor Constantine VIII of the Byzantine Empire marries his daughter Zoe of Byzantium to his chosen heir Romanus Argyrus.

1084   Henry IV, Holy Roman Emperor crowned Emperor

1194   Richard I of England is ransomed from Henry VI, Emperor of the Holy Roman Empire.

1195   Alexius III Angelus overthrows Isaac II and becomes emperor of Byzantium.

1214   The Emperor of Jin China surrenders to the Mongols under Ghengis Khan who have been besieging Beijing for a year. He pays a huge ransom and then abandons Northern China, heading for Kaifeng.

1356   Emperor Charles IV. promulgates the Golden Bull, a sort of medieval constitution for the Holy Roman Empire

1502   Aztec ruler Auitzotl dies; Moctezuma II elected emperor.

1514   Louis XII of France makes peace with Emperor Maximilian.

1521   Outbreak of war between Emperor Charles and the King of France.

1542   War resumes between Francis I of France and Emperor Charles V. This time Henry VIII of England is allied to the Emperor, while James V of Scotland and Sultan Suleiman I are allied to the French.

1604   Za Dengel deposed as Emperor of Ethiopia by Za Sellase, who restores his cousin Yaqob.

1607   Yaqob is defeated in battle and deposed by his cousin Susenyos, who then becomes Emperor of Ethiopia.

1608   Susenyos formally crowned Emperor of Ethiopia.
