NTV Chairman Seiichiro Ujiie was compelled to step down from his post at the National Association of Commercial Broadcasters of Japan, an industry-wide ethics body, in October 2003. Shortly thereafter, he resigned as Chairman. NTV subsequently came under fire for staging part of a news show.
