She is the highest placed Miss Hong Kong at Miss World and Miss Universe pageant since TVB hosted the pageant in 1973 (Miss Virginia Lee was second runner-up in Miss Universe 1954 and Judy Dan was third runner-up in Miss Universe 1952). She is also the first and so far only Hong Kong representative to win the Queen of Asia award. Iceland, Anna Margret Jonsdóttir, who placed as 2nd runner-up in Miss World, failed to put her through into the semi-finals in Miss Universe 1988.
