Origins

The first television broadcast transmission in Australia took place on 30 September 1929 in Melbourne

. Other transmissions took place in the city over the next few weeks. In 1934, test transmissions also took place in Brisbane. They were made from the Tower Mill in Brisbane to a site in Ipswich and picked up on a receiver there. Other experimental transmissions followed in other cities.
