Susan Chepkemei is a female Kenya
n long-distance runner, who competes in the 10,000 metres and marathon

in the first two years), while in 2001 she won the Great North Run
in 68:40. She improved her marathon time to 2:23:19 for fifth in London
in 2002, a year in which at 10,000 m she took the silver medal in the Commonwealth Games – in a personal best 31:32.04 – and won the African title. She won the Parelloop
10K in race in the Netherlands
in 1998 and 2000, and also won the Marseille-Cassis Classique Internationale
with a course record time in 2000.
When Radcliffe set her stunning world record of 2:15:25 in London Chepkemei trimmed her best to 2:23:12 for fourth place after reaching the halfway mark in 69:30. She was second in New York
in 2004 and 2005, and continued to run successfully in the half marathon, including wins at Lisbon Half Marathon
in 2001, 2002 and 2005, and third in the 2004 Great North Run
and 2005 IAAF World Half Marathon Championships

"The International Association of Athletics Federations
(IAAF) has been informed by Athletics Kenya
(AK) that the female athlete, Susan Chepkemei has been found guilty of the following doping violation under IAAF Rules:
Presence of the prohibited substance Salbutamol
(S3. Beta-2 Agonists) in her doping control sample (IAAF Rule 32.2a). This doping violation relates to an IAAF out-of-competition doping control conducted on 10.09.07 in Nairobi, KEN."
Chepkemei was given the asthma
medication Salbutamol by her doctor after she became pregnant and developed pneumonia; as a result, the ban was reduced to one year. She began her comeback in early 2009.
