History

In March 2007 the Indonesian Ministry of Transportation, under huge political pressure to improve air safety in Indonesia, warned it will close seven airlines unless they improve training and maintenance within the next three months. The ministry developed a formula for ranking the airlines in three bands. Those in the third (least safe) band are: Adam Air

On January 4, 2005, a Boeing 737-2A9C (PK-YGM) was part of the relief operation to the tsunami stricken area of Banda Aceh.

(Banda Aceh) during the night, it struck a water buffalo that had entered the runway. The main gear on the port side collapsed, causing damage to the gear and port engine.

There were no injuries and the aircraft was declared a write off and scrapped several months later.
