Kasganj is located at 27.82°N 78.65°E. It has an average elevation of 177 metres (580 feet). Situated on the banks of river Kali, the town is in proximity of the Himalayas foothills. It is located in the Doab

 foothills, the winters are moderate, sometime the temperature reaching zero degree also while the summers are hot and dry. The summers are a bit extreme in nature and the temperature regularly exceeds 40°C, sometimes well over 45°C also. The monsoon season runs from June-end well into September. During the monsoon season, almost daily showers are not an uncommon phenomenon. From October onwards, it features pleasant weather, not-so-hot and not-so-cold either, while proper winter starting only in early December.

. The Kali river has also got two canals which pass over the river through the two bridges specially made for this purpose. This is a sort of modern civil architectural wonder which attracts some curious onlookers from and around the town to witness and marvel this piece of engineering. If proper facilities are provided, this place has the potential to be developed as a good tourist spot around the region. This system of river and canals bridges also served as a flood control mechanism where in case of floods, the excess water could be sucked in from the river with the pump set and poured in the canals.

Architecturally, Kasganj has four main roads crossing at right angle in the heart of the town. All four roads lead to four different towns and hence having four different names accordingly -

 (ghanta-ghar) stands imposingly at the center of the crossing of these four roads - its called Barahdwari (which literally means 'twelve doors').

Although it is not a tourist place as such, there are few places of interest like Nadrai Ka Pul, Prabhu Park, Chamunda Mandir etc. Off late, Kasganj is declared as district and named as Kanshi Ram Nagar; however the name of the city is still Kasganj as before.
'Gandhi-Murti' is the another landmark here, situated at Nadrai Gate, it has two roads, one of them leads to Railway Junction and the other to the Roadways bus station through 'Laxmiganj' passing by 'Gol Darwaja'.

Education

Kasganj has a number of private and public schools and colleges. The medium of instruction in almost all educational institutions is predominantly Hindi.but from the last few years the city emerges towards the English culture.A number of english medium schools are still developing to sustain the well education system.

Economy

On the industrial side, there are some factories - like cement factory, rice mill, carpet factories, milk chilling plant, brick factories apart from a number of cold storage facilities for the agricultural produce, catering to the huge farming population living in villages surrounding the town.

Kasganj being an important Railway junction, has a large Railway infrastructure and supporting staff. This section of society contributes significantly to the local economy.

Almost all leading nationalized banks have their presence in the town.

The town has got a few lodges and small hotels.

Cuisine

Kasganj is famous for its sweets, 'chat' (a north-Indian spicy snack) and dairy products. The quality of these products is comparable, and in some cases even better, to such products anywhere throughout the country. And of course, all this at a reasonable price.People flocked early morning to his kiosk to savor the specialty.
Those who are leading the pack are Roshanlal, Gautam Sweets House(Aligarh wale), apart from others.
