Overview

CB East has a student population of about 1,750, making it the second largest high school in the Central Bucks School District. The school's students follow a block scheduling system in which students take 90-minute classes for one semester, or half of each school year.

The curriculum boasts sixteen Advanced Placement courses and honors courses in most disciplines. Over 650 Advanced Placement tests were recently administered to CB East students, who excelled in every area. Newsweek magazine designated Central Bucks High School East one of the most competitive high schools in the nation. Recent graduating classes consistently score in the top five percent of all high schools in the state on the rigorous Pennsylvania System of School Assessment (PSSA). The Class of 2000 scored highest of all comprehensive high schools on both the math and reading portions of the PSSA. This feat is especially noteworthy since there are over 500 high schools in Pennsylvania. Central Bucks East is also a National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence.

CB East has had several additions built onto it over the years, with the most recent completed in 1997. Construction on the latest additions will begin in 2010 as part of the extensive renovations project, estimated to complete in 2014.

The Rock

Painting the rock in front of the school is a long-standing tradition for CB East students. Members of different athletic teams, classes, and groups will spray paint the rock with different designs throughout the course of the school year. Painting may take place before a big sports game with a rival or just on a random weekend. The school's rivals CB West and CB South also have rocks on their school properties. A common prank is to paint one of the rival school's rocks with your school's colors. (Example: Painting the CB West rock in CB East red, white, and blue.)
