The Arabian bambooshark, Chiloscyllium arabicum, is a bamboo shark in the family Hemiscylliidae found in the western Indian Ocean from India, Pakistan, and the Persian Gulf between Iraq and the Arabian Peninsula, between latitudes 31° N and 8° S, and longitude 45° E and 78° E. Its length is up to 78 cm.
The Arabian bambooshark has its mouth well in front of its eyes, and its dorsal fins are spineless. The precaudal tail is greatly elongated and thick, the long and low anal fin is just anterior to the caudal fin, and there are prominent predorsal and interdorsal ridges on the back.

The Arabian bambooshark has its mouth well in front of its eyes, and its dorsal fins are spineless. The precaudal tail is greatly elongated and thick, the long and low anal fin is just anterior to the caudal fin, and there are prominent predorsal and interdorsal ridges on the back. The dorsal fins have nearly straight posterior margins, and the second dorsal fin usually has a longer base than the first. It inhabits coral reefs, rocky shores, and mangrove estuaries, feeding on squid, shelled molluscs, crustaceans, and snake eels.
The Arabian bambooshark has no colour pattern.
Reproduction
Reproduction is oviparous, laying up to 4 eggs at nine day intervals on coral reefs which hatch in 70 to 80 days at 75F water temperature. Some of the eggs lain are likely to be infertile, although most usually hatch successfully. Breeding this species has been succesful in captivity.
