The name "Palamaner" has originated from the name "Pallavan yeri". "Yeri" in Tamil

Holidays

On May 14 every year, people from different regions participate in a festival for blessings and well being from the holy deity "Gangamma". This holiday originated from a 1930s plague which prevailed in the region, taking thousands of lives. The local people believe that this plague was controlled by offering prayers in the form of Ganga Jatra. During celebration of gangajathara its believed that offering coconuts in thousands will result in fulfilling devotees wishes.

Contrary to popular beliefs, Nov 20 every year, is observed as a day of merry making and joy, in tribute to the birth of the demi-god "Dagga Mundeshwar". It is a symbolic day and is yet to be recognized as a public holiday.

MSR Educational Society:

This educational society is formed in memory of renowned academician Late M. SITA RAM (Ex. Principal- FAC Govt Jr. College Palamaner) by his students, friends and family members in 2001. It was registered in 2007(Regd 3 84/07).

Since its formation, the society has issued Certificates of Excellence for various students for their academic performance along with cash prizes at different schools and colleges across Chittoor district. Encouraging merit students and funding the poor (rural) students for their education, is the main objective of the organization.

The prime objective of this society is to encourage the students of Govt. schools and Junior colleges across the district.

Centre for Social Action Trust (1998): has established its presence in Palamaner Town and the adjoining Mandals of Gangavaram and Byreddipalli through various community initiatives for the rural poor. The major focus group of the Trust is disadvantged women and children in distress. In 2009, the Trust manages a special school for children with disabilities catering to over 130 children, promotes community organization process among rural women in 52 villages and helps over a thousand children under its education assistance programme. This makes CSA Trust one of the pioneering social work institutions of the region.

MASS - Mitra Association for Social Service:

The Non governmental organisation is promoting sustainable livelihoods among the tribal communities in Bangarupalyam, Palamaner and Baireddypalli mandals of the district. The NGO is run by a socially committed individual, Ms Sunanda and they are concentrating on livelihoods among tribals and non tribals, watershed developments, SHG promotion, Child rights and education.
