The game is available for the PlayStation 2 and Game Boy Advance, and was a launch title for the former. Midnight Club II Midnight Club II is the first sequel to Midnight Club: Street Racing, published for the PlayStation 2, Xbox, and PC. Players race through Los Angeles, Paris, and Tokyo. For the second installment, motorcycles were added to the game, and more detail was added to ensure that the game's cars bore a higher likeness to their real-life inspirations. The game also features an online multiplayer component.
The vehicles in Midnight Club II all resemble real life vehicles, such as the Victory, which resembles an Aston Martin Vanquish, the Jersey XS, which resembles a Dodge Viper, and the Veloci, which resembles a Saleen S7.

Name origin
The two kanji letters that act as a subtitle, , are translated as wangan, meaning "bayshore". This was taken from the name of the Tokyo to Yokohama route of the Shuto Expressway. The game was said to be named after the real life hashiriya gang, known as the Mid Night Club, who used the same route on a regular basis.
