. Later, as mIRC became very popular and after Khaled realized he needed to devote more time to develop it, he decided to change the software license in order to make a living from developing it. Consequently, since 2004, Khaled distributed the software with an uncrippled evaluation license

 which after a 30-day evaluation period employs a nag screen that pops up on startup which urge the users to register so as to support the further development of mIRC. This nag screen can be removed by registering the program for $20. As a result, since then Khaled's main work is developing mIRC.
