in 1971 and then Cranbourne Business and Enterprise College in September 2004. Cranbourne or CBEC is now one of two Business and Enterprise Colleges in the whole of Hampshire. It has generally achieved satisfactory Ofsted reports in past years. Cranbourne Business and Enterprise College has scola buildings designed to last for 20 years . Much of it has been refurbished and it became the first Business and Enterprise college in Hampshire in 2004.
The school is now run by Mrs Betty Elkins. She became headteacher in Easter 2006. Her previous school was Crestwood Business and Enterprise College. The previous headteacher was Ann Morrison.
Cranbourne has had a drop in pupil numbers from 1250 in September 2004 to 830 in May 2009, then 110 Year 7s joining in September 2009.

After invesigatiom it was found that the incident was caused by sunlight reflecting off a mirror in a storage cupboard. The fire started after school hours had ended and nobody was hurt in the incident. The block re-opened as usual in November 2009.

Organization
The school is separated into 9 blocks - A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, and M. It also has a small swimming pool. CBEC buildings include a 3-story Science block (C block). All blocks are undergoing refurbishment with support from Hampshire County Council. Builders are refurbishing the outer walls and windows of all blocks, at an estimated cost of £500,000.The school is now run by Mrs Betty Elkins. She became headteacher in Easter 2006. The fire of 2009
On 11 June 2009, a fire broke out in the upper floor of G block (the art and geography block). The fire damaged three classrooms, including the main Art classroom.After invesigatiom it was found that the incident was caused by sunlight reflecting off a mirror in a storage cupboard.
