. This Panchayath consists of two villages viz. South Trikarpur and North Trikarpur. While North Trikaripur village is headquartered at Main Bazar, the South Trikaripur village is at Elambachi.

Etymology

As per local Hindu mythological belief, the name Trikarpur has been derived from "Sree Haripuram" and then "Thiru Karipuram" and later on to the present name. It is also believed that the famous "Gajendra Moksha" which is stated in "Shri Maha Bhagavatham" occurred in Trikarpur (in front of Sree Chakrapani Temple). This story is related to the "Sree Chakrapani Temple" which is believed to have been built by "Lord Parasurama" .
