U.S. Route 6 is a part of the United States Numbered Highway that runs from California to Provincetown, Massachusetts

. In Indiana, it is a mostly rural, two-lane route that travels in the northern part of the state. However, some four-lane stretches may be found in Lake and Porter counties. For most of its length it travels over The Grand Army of the Republic Highway. U.S. Route 6 is positioned where State Road 6 would fit into Indiana's state road numbering system. SR 6 is also a former designation for the route.

SR 106 was the first route of US 6 through Bremen. Then a bypass was built around the north side of Bremen. The route through Bremen was cosigned BUS US 6 and SR 106, now it is only SR 106.
