Egan made his first and to date only appearance in the UFC when he was signed to the undercard of UFC 93: Franklin Vs Henderson, which took place in his home country of Ireland. He faced a fellow UFC debutant and undefeated fighter in English prospect John Hathaway. Early on in the fight it was quite clear that Egan was outmatched as Hathaway made his superior strength and wrestling be known with an easy take down to secure top control. Despite efforts to defend and escape from the bottom position, the referee had to step in to stop the bout with just under thirty seconds left in the first round as Hathaway struck down repeated elbows to the head of a helpless Egan. Following the loss, Egan was cut from the UFC.
