The Tega Cay Fire Department and Rescue Squad is staffed by volunteers. Several other governmental positions in the town, including the Beautification Committee, the Community Relations Committee, the Municipal Election Committee, the Finance Committee, the Parks and Recreation Committee, the Planning and Zoning Committee, the Public Works Committee, the Safety Committee, and the Board of Zoning Appeals are all staffed by volunteers as well. Based on the mini-cities concept, trash collection, curbside recycling, repaving and similar requirements are contracted out. The fiscal year runs from October 1 through September 30.
