Begnins has an area, , of 4.8 square kilometre. Of this area, 3.29 square kilometre or 68.8% is used for agricultural purposes, while 0.82 square kilometre or 17.2% is forested. Of the rest of the land, 0.67 square kilometre or 14.0% is settled (buildings or roads) and 0.01 km² (2.5 acre) or 0.2% is unproductive land.
Of the built up area, housing and buildings made up 9.4% and transportation infrastructure made up 3.8%. Out of the forested land, 15.7% of the total land area is heavily forested and 1.5% is covered with orchards or small clusters of trees. The municipality was part of the Nyon District until it was dissolved on 31 August 2006, and Begnins became part of the new district of Nyon.
The municipality is located west of the wine-growing region of a Côte. It is situated above the medieval town of Nyon
