After he completed his post graduate degree with university honours and a merit award for topping the class of his graduation year in 2007, Arjun joined the Department of English at, Silchar as a lecturer (contractual). In 2009, Arjun began working on his PhD at the Department of English under the supervision of Dr. Dipankar Purkayastha who is a renowned authority on Romantic literature and African-American studies. Arjun's PhD thesis deals with a selective body of fiction from multi-ethnic American literature and the examination of memory in these narratives.

Arjun also writes poetry and reflective prose in Bengali though he has not published any independent work in Bengali as yet. Arjun's most recent publication is a collocation of autobiografictional narratives and poetry titled Saffron Metrophobia. At present, Arjun is continuing his research project at Assam University. He was recently given the Kavyanandan Award by Suranandan Bharati in December 2010 at CLT Aban Mahal, Kolkata for his contribution to poetry and translation from North East India. Besides writing in English and Bengali, Arjun also translates from various languages like Latin, French, Sanskrit and Hindi but is not eager to publish any work in these languages. He has also written for and published with major literary journals across the world.
