The total student body amounts to 11,000, including foreign students and short-term students. The institute was founded as Russian Training School of Southwest Military University of PLA

Location

SISU main campus is located in ShaPingBa district of Chongqing, near the beautiful Gele Mountain by Jialing River with a total area of 770,000 square meters. (construction area is about 230,000 square meters) Due to its wonderful surrounding and contribution it makes to this area, this college has been granted the title of "garden-like unit" of Chongqing by local government.

Student

Majority of students are from liberal arts background in middle school. Out of 12,000 current-enrolled students, there are about 8000 are 4-year or 3-year undergraduate students, 2500 are in adult and continuing education programs, rest are in short-time training program.
