Ruth McDevitt (September 13 1895 - May 27 1976) was an American film actress. She was born in Coldwater, the seat of Branch County in southern Michigan, as "Ruth Thane Shoecraft. She was married to Patrick McDevitt. She has performed on Broadway, on radio, and is well known for her comedy roles in film and television.
She was a familiar face on television during the 1960s and 1970s. She was a regular with Ann Sheridan, Douglas Fowley, and Gary Vinson in CBS's Pistols 'n' Petticoats, a 1966-1967 satire of the Old West.

She was a familiar face on television during the 1960s and 1970s. She was a regular with Ann Sheridan, Douglas Fowley, and Gary Vinson in CBS's Pistols 'n' Petticoats, a 1966-1967 satire of the Old West. The series attracted a good audience but was cancelled two months after Ann Sheridan died.
McDevitt also guest starred in such series as All in the Family, Bewitched,I Dream Of Jeannie and The Lucy Show. She also had a regular role as Miss Emily on Kolchak: the Night Stalker, starring Darren McGavin.
McDevitt died at the age of eighty in Hollywood, California.
