History

The city has always been a part of the Egyptian Empire since the Pharaohnic period. It was also a major location on the battle route towards Egyptian settlements in Anatolia

Climate

Like other Mediterranean cities, it is characterised by warm summers, mild and cold winter. The temperature during summer can be around 30sC during daytime. In winter, the city gets warm days, but nights can get -1C and sub-zero temperature. Rainfall is average with hail, sleet and snow taking place.

Agriculture

Due to rain, hail and sleet, the city has plentiful source of water for agriculture and planting crops. Mediterranean fruits and crops are dominant here, such as: peach
