History

The organisation started as the South Queensland Conservation Council with 12 member groups, and by 1975 it served 66 organisations and had over 300 members. It worked on many of the key campaigns throughout the past forty years, including:

 in Queensland. During the past decade QCC has opposed fish farms in Moreton Bay and helped to phase out broad scale land clearing.

Another ongoing venture is the Rivers Project which provides representation on consultation panels and submissions on issues of state water reform. QCC also raises public awareness of water management issues and publishes a quarterly newsletter, Rivers Alive.
