Geography

Quarten has an area, , of 61.7 km² (23.8 sq mi). Of this area, 33.5% is used for agricultural purposes, while 45.7% is forested. Of the rest of the land, 3.5% is settled (buildings or roads) and the remainder (17.2%) is non-productive (rivers or lakes).
