PA 722 is known by many names along its route. The names include State Road, Cottage Avenue, Petersburg Road, and Oregon Road. The route is a rural alternative to driving on PA 283 and US 30

The route starts at an interchange with PA 283 in between the village of Landisville, and the town of East Petersburg. The route heads east into East Petersburg, where the route meets with PA 741

History

The route was signed in 1930, and has primarily stayed on the same roads since its inception. Its western terminus terminus was moved once, when US 230 moved to what is now PA 283.
