Meaux is a commune of Seine-et-Marne, in the metropolitan area of Paris, France. This Francilienne town is located . (25.5 miles) east-northeast from the center of Paris (as the crow flies). Meaux is a sous-préfecture of the Seine-et-Marne département, being the seat of the Arrondissement of Meaux. Although it is the most populous commune in the Seine-et-Marne, it is not the préfecture (capital), which resides in the commune of Melun.
