His TV career is made up of mostly primetime dramas and various comedies. He is often seen using an accent other than his own and has played many Scottish, Irish and American characters.

Technically he has made three movies in Iceland. He starred in Beowulf and Grendel alongside Gerard Butler and Stellan Skarsgard, he played a US marine in Flags of our Fathers with Ryan Phillipe, both shot on location on the island. He also appeared as himself, lent his voice to and co-produced a version of Wrath of Gods, a feature documentary about the making of Beowulf and Grendel.

He was a co-writer of additional material for the popular Kevin Bishop show, in 2008.
