Despite ill-health, he participated in the party’s Statewide agitation in Allahabad on January 19 against price rise and corruption, his last public appearance.

He was elected four times for the Lok Sabha and served as a Union Minister in different capacities. He was also elected to the Rajya Sabha for three consecutive terms.

. The last rites of Mishra were performed Saturday afternoon at the Sangam in Allahabad, he was cremated with full state honours in the presence of political leaders cutting across party lines.

He is survived by two daughters.
