They extracted their name after the name of their Ancesstor, Gorish Khan Great Grand son of Mir Jalal Khan (Father of Rind

) . In 1760, when Ahmad Shah Abdali, defeated Marhatta's, the areas of Harand and Dajal were given to Naseer Khan Qalat, because he was with Ahmad Shah Abdali in this venture . In this Battle Gorshani also helped Naseer Khan, so he maintained their Regards given by Ahmad Shah Abdali to Gorshanis and also laided fort of Lal Garh in Harand.

The Gorshani tribe has 11 tribal clans which further divide in 81 sub clans. This tribe has two major tribal groups: Doodai, and Rind-o-Lashar; Doodai Gorshanis are Shehkani, Shakhlani, Hotwani, Pitafi
