Upon semi-retiring in the early 2000s, Medina became a police officer in Wichita, Kansas

. He could be seen in the Kansas based independent promotions Midwest Wrestling Alliance and Metro Pro Wrestling. He could also be heard on his commentaries with Mark 13 of Empire Extreme Magazine and Renn on http://www.WrestleOutLoud.com on "THE KINGPIN & 13 SHOW", which was posted on the site 1-2 times weekly until the show and site went on hiatus. Since 2007, he has dedicated himself to shedding a lot of the weight he had gained since the original ECW went out of business, and he is near the best shape of his life today.
