Economy

Agriculture, is the main stay of the economy. Coffee, pepper, plantain and vanilla are the
main crops. Besides these nut crops, the most important crop in the vellamunda is Banana & Ginger. Aqueducts have been constructed to take water to the otherwise dry areas in the village.
Price of land is going up even though Agrarian crisis is present in Kerala.

Even though agriculture was the main source of income for the majority of the population now the situation has turned around. A major chunk of the economy now comes from people working in Gulf countries.
