In November 2009 it was announced that the museum would move to premises at Rochester House in Pembroke Street
, following a gift of £2.5m from a private donor.
A public campaign will be launched in 2010 to raise £11m needed to transform the building, with the aim of attracting up to 100,000 visitors a year. The team behind the project hopes that the Story Museum will be ready in time for Oxford's bid to become Unesco
's World Book Capital
in 2014.
