 headed by Add Jones. Other members include guitarist Bamba, bassist Biff and drummer Chris Green who was previously a member of The Regulars.

The Motive have been through several lineups and musical styles with Jones being the only constant element, however it seems as if the band have reached some kind of stability with its current line up.

Name

The Motive have been through several names, including:
  • The Dallas Technocrats
  • Self Drive
  • Sub Stereo


The final band name was decided upon when a friend of the band told them he had a dream where he fronted a band called The Motive. The rest of the band thought it was such a good idea that they stole it and claimed it for themselves before he could do anything with it.
