stations were closed so necessary construction could take place. Science Park station is undergoing reconstruction of both elevated platforms, and installation of new elevators on both sides of the station to make it completely accessible. By closing the station, construction is now 6 months ahead of schedule. While closed, the MBTA operated a free shuttle bus service connecting them to North Station. The station was reopened and regular service between Lechmere and North Station resumed on 5 November 2011.
On January 21, 2009, station signage was changed to read
Science Park/West End, although the new name will not be on any MBTA maps or publications.
