Sandee Chan is a famous singer-songwriter
, music producer and director in Taiwan
who generally sings and writes songs in Mandarin Chinese. She is widely recognized as one of the most successful and talented female singers among the Chinese music industry, especially in the field of indie music. Despite her achievements in music creations, Sandee is also a best-selling book writer,a painter and a photographer. Therefore,she has been continuously reputed as an all-round artist.
Sandee moved from the Philippines to Taiwan because of her father's job changes. She began to play the piano
when she was only a little girl, and learned to play the electric piano
in high school. As a freshman,she established the first Rock&Roll Club in Taiwan National Chengchi University
and continued to play the guitar

s and other music instruments.At that time, she started music creation and accumulated a number of her own songs. In 1991, she launched her first performance in Young Star Search
,an annual contest of the bands for college students and released her first original song, 七天办 . Discovered by the independent record label Friendly Dogs during the contest, Sandee began her career as a professional musician.
In 1992, Sandee started to write songs for Jeff Chang
and Pinyuan Huang, both are famous Taiwanese singers. A Long Way Down, her first single was published in a compilation of the Friendly Dogs Records in 1994 and her debut album Washington Chopped the Cherry Tree in the same year. Since then, she started down her path to a prolific musician and hundreds of songs were beautifully created by her for artists across Taiwan, Hong Kong
and mainland China
. Sandee is a terrific performer in live concerts, in the form of either unplugged or full-band, and with a keen sense of humor like a comedian or talk-show host hidden behind her rock appearance and her princess charm. She was also on the same stage with Cat Power
in 2003 except for her solo concerts.
Thus far, Sandee has released 14 solo albums and 2 albums under the name of Material Girls, a music group with Sandee as the lead singer and producer, Hong Kong music engineer Veegay as the vocal and producer and illustrator Cola King as lyrics writer and image designer.
