Saltfleet is a coastal village in the county of Lincolnshire
, England. Situated approximately 8 miles (12.9 km) north of Mablethorpe
and 11 miles (17.7 km) east of Louth
. The village is part of the civil parish
of Skidbrooke with Saltfleet Haven, which had a population of 523 at the 2001 Census
.
Saltfleet has a 19th century windmill
which is grade II listed. and a wild bird sanctuary, at which a rare Long-billed Dowitcher
was spotted and photographed in November 2002.
The parish church is a grade I listed building dedicated to Saint Botolph
dating from the 13th century. The font is 13th century, and there is a gravestone set in the chancel
floor to a vicar of parish, who died in 1413. The church is now redundant.
As well as the Mill the village contains two old public houses; the New Inn is a grade II listed building, dating from the 17th century, and The Crown Inn, which is over 200 years old.
Opposite the New Inn is the Manor House built in 1673 although some parts are believed to date back to 1347. The house is steeped in history, Oliver Cromwell
is thought to have stayed there before the battle of Winceby
, and what is thought to be the first example of wallpaper
was found in the bed room that he slept in, a sample of which is now at the V & A museum in London. "Lincolnshire Life" magazine have published several articles about the building and its former occupants, as indeed have many writers on historic or interesting old buildings.
Adjacent to the Manor house is an old red brick Methodist chapel dating from 1815.
There is also a limestone
village pump which is grade II listed which was erected in 1899 in memory of F. A. Freshney who died from wounds inflicted while fighting in South Africa

Saltfleet is surrounded by quiet countryside, the sea and Saltfleetby-Theddlethorpe Dunes National Nature Reserve
is close by.
Saltfleet also has three caravan sites, one at the New Inn, the second Sunnydale, part of the Park Resorts
chain, and the third Tuxworth Caravan Sites, which incorporates Sandyfield, Kingswood, and Beach caravan sites.
There is also a shop and petrol station, and a seasonal fish and chip shop.
