Background

Saint Albert was dedicated on June 7, 1964. It replaced Saint Francis, Mount Loretto, and St. Joseph High Schools.

Academics

Core Curriculum

Religion: Students must take four years of religion classes, which cover a variety of topics, including the Old and New Testaments, church history and reformation, morality, relationships, social justice, prayer and liturgy, and contemporary religious issues.

English: Four years of English courses prepare students for writing and researching term papers, enjoying and evaluating American and British literature, poetry, short stories and prose. Vocabulary and use of grammar are sharpened in Freshmen and Sophomore English. Students also can participate in Journalism where they publish the yearbook and school newspaper, The Accipiter.

Business: Students are required to take Word Processing and Computer Applications. Other business courses give our students a head start

 on the inner workings of personal finance, business law and accounting. Working in our two computer labs, students learn about word processing, Web design and navigating the Internet.

Social Studies: The history of the world and the United States are at the fingertips of Saint Albert Freshmen and Sophomores. Getting closer to voting age, Juniors learn about the intricacies of government and economics. Students expand their social knowledge learning about current events and modern U.S. history. Three years of Social Studies is required.

Math: Students can prepare for a mathematical, logical world through three years of Math courses, such as Algebra I and II, Geometry, Trigonometry, Pre-Calculus and Calculus.

Science: The world of science is opened up to St. Albert students in the Science and Technology wing. It is in the Biology, Chemistry and Physics labs that students are able to prepare for college using the latest in science technology. Students also may earn their three years of Science courses in Earth Science and Environmental Science.

Physical Education: Saint Albert students work on building their bodies as well as their minds. With four years of Physical Education classes, students learn the value of working together as a team, developing a life-long physical fitness and wellness routine, managing stress, eating right and staying away from harmful habits such as smoking, drinking and drugs.

Saint Albert has received most notoriety lately for its football program, which has earned 4 state championships in the past 6 years. Most recently, the Falcons earned back to back titles in 2006 and 2007. In 2008, the Falcons made it to the quarterfinals before losing a close game to West Lyon. West Lyon went on to be the state runner-ups.
In 2009 they again took the state title to finish an undefeated season.
