Rob Marshall (born October 17 1960) is an American theater, film director and choreographer. He is a six-time Tony Award nominee, Academy Award nominee, Golden Globe nominee and Emmy winner whose most noted work includes the 2002 film Chicago and the 1998 Broadway revival of Cabaret.

Television
Marshall choreographed the 1996 made-for-television movie Mrs. Santa Claus and Rodgers and Hammerstein's Cinderella, starring singer Brandy in the title role, in 1997. He received Emmy Award nominations for Outstanding Choreography for both shows.
In 1999, he directed and choreographed Disney's made-for-television remake of the musical Annie, for which he received an Emmy Award for Outstanding Choreography and an Emmy Award nomination for Outstanding Direction for a Miniseries, Movie or Special.
Marshall also directed and produced the 2006 television special Tony Bennett: An American Classic, which he co-choreographed with partner John DeLuca. For the special, Marshall won a 2007 Directors Guild of America Award for Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Musical/Variety. He was awarded a 2007 Emmy for Outstanding Directing For A Variety, Music Or Comedy Program and he and DeLuca have been nominated for Outstanding Choreography.
On March 15, 2007, Marshall was a guest judge on Grease: You're the One that I Want!, along with his sister Kathleen Marshall. On the live broadcast, the competitors performed the song "All That Jazz" from Chicago in his honor.
Film
In 2002, Marshall received international acclaim for directing and choreographing Chicago, a Hollywood adaptation of the Broadway musical of the same name. The hit film starred Renée Zellweger, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Richard Gere and Queen Latifah and received six Academy Awards, including Best Picture. Marshall himself was nominated for a Golden Globe and an Academy Award for Directing. The film also earned him his first Directors Guild of America Award.
In 2005, he directed Memoirs of a Geisha, starring Zhang Ziyi. The film was nominated for six Oscars and won three, for Best Art Direction, Best Cinematography and Best Costume Design at the 78th Annual Academy Awards. The other three nominations were for Best Original Score, Best Sound and Best Sound Mixing.
On June 13, 2006, columnist Liz Smith wrote about a rumor that Rob Marshall might reunite with Catherine Zeta-Jones, who played Velma Kelly in Chicago, for another film adaptation of the musical Gypsy.
Marshall is currently making a film adaptation of Nine, starring Daniel Day-Lewis, Nicole Kidman, Judi Dench, Marion Cotillard, Sophia Loren and Penélope Cruz and will be released in December 11, 2009.
