He has held the office of Chairperson of Municipal Committee of Solan from 1995-2000. He was elected MLA in 2000 and became the Chairman of HP State Pollution Control Board. He was again elected MLA in 2003 and 2008. He is a dynamic leader with a vision for the progress of the state as a whole. He has special interest in health sector and strongly believe in Indian culture and values. He is a keen promoter of ayurveda (Indian system of medicine).
