. It is owned and operated by an independent nonprofit organization called the Mounted Police Heritage Centre and receives no funding from any level of government. The Centre showcases a number of exhibits featuring the collection of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police

, the City of Regina and the RCMP announced the creation of the facility in early 2005. Construction began in October 2005. The first phase, a 70000 square feet (6,503.2 m²), $29-million building, designed by architect Arthur Erickson

, is now open. Phase two plans for an additional 8000 square feet (743.2 m²) of exhibits within the Centre along with historical landscaping, educational programming, and travelling exhibits.

Located next to the Saskatchewan RCMP Headquarters, at 5907 Dewdney Avenue, and at the gateway of the RCMP Academy, Depot Division

Education Central Focus of Exhibits

Through the use of permanent and temporary exhibits, multimedia technologies, and extensive programming, the Heritage Centre will tell the RCMP story and educate Canadians and the world about the past, present and future of the RCMP within Canada and abroad. Features of the RCMP Heritage Centre include:

Cracking the Case
and Duty Calls

A 100 ft. (30 m) long March of the Mounties sculptural procession runs the length of the main exhibit hall that demonstrates the evolution of the RCMP and of Canada through transportation.
A 2,500 sq ft. (232 m2) 125 seat custom-designed multimedia theatre is a prominent feature of the building’s architecture and contributes to the Centre’s experience by delivering an exciting and educational show. A 2,000 sq ft. (186 m2) of temporary exhibit space will complete the story using rotating house and/or travelling exhibits from other institutions.
