. It took place annually in the spring, and it continued to be run until 1968. The conditions varied, but in its later years the race was contested over 2,400 metres by horses aged three or older. Winners included Coast Guard (1951), Vamos (1954), Elpenor (1956), Snob (1962) and Bon Mot (1967).

The present version was first run in 1978. It is now a long-distance event restricted to three-year-olds, and it serves as a trial for the following month's Prix Royal-Oak
