Business model

Their subscription model sees the movies that have been on PictureBox for the longest time taken off the service and replaced with a selection of different on-demand movies. Users do not pay per movie; for a monthly subscription they have free access to movies in the database.

PictureBox have company mascots in the form of a box-shaped man and his dog, which often appear on the PictureBox website and on the supporting marketing materials.

PictureBox Player

On BT Vision, Freesat (through BoxOffice365) and Virgin Media subscribers have a selection of 28 on-demand movies at any one time, with seven titles being swapped out each Friday. This is also true of the PictureBox Player. On Top Up TV, the operation is slightly different; they have 7 movies available at any one time, with a different title being swapped out every single day.

On Virgin Media the majority of the PictureBox movies are broadcast in high definition.
