 Pets at home currently have over 5000 employees. The company sells a large variety of products including food, toys, bedding, medication and accessories.

History

The first Pets at Home store was opened in Chester

 in 1991 by Anthony Preston. In 1999 Pets at Home acquired Petsmart

 UK bringing a chain of 140 stores under Pets at Home branding. In 2007 the 200th store was opened. At the end of 2010 the pet supplier opened its 277th store in the UK. Pets at Home has also started global recognition with two stores opened in Melbourne, Australia. The two stores opened in Australia have been taken over. On 27 January 2010 Britain's largest pet shop chain was sold by Bridgepoint Capital

and is roughly 160,000 m2. This warehouse supplies the whole business and has been expanded on numerous occasions. There have been meetings at Pets at Home offices about the building of a new warehouse to be able to continually feed the growing number of stores owned by Pets at Home. The company buys all it products from suppliers and also sells neighbouring products in their stores, such as bakers.
