Ndururi was from the Gatunyu village, Mugomoini sub-location, Gatanga District. His parents were Naftali Kinaga and Joyce Njoki. Ndururi was married to Florence Wanjiru with one child.

Patrick Ndururi died on 25-10-09 due to a suspected heart attack,and was buried on 3-11-09 in his home town Thika
