From the mid-90s onwards, Paco Vidarte, who was gay
, was an active member of the gay movement in Spain, and especially Madrid. He was a member of the group "Radical Gai", and later became one of the leading theoretics and philosophers of the Spanish LGBT-groups. Vidarte was the first to discuss "Teoría Queer" (Queer Theory
) at Spanish university and published an impressive, internationally renowned number of articles and books about J. Dérrida as well as about LGTB-theory.
He was a professor at UNED-university until his death in Madrid in 2008, caused by a malign form of lymphatic cancer and HIV.
