History

The station originally opened on 20 July 1931 on the Manchester, South Junction and Altrincham Railway

. The Sunday service originally ran only between Chester and Altrincham thus not serving Navigation Road, with passengers connecting onto the Metrolink at Altrincham to go to stations to Manchester, however a full Sunday service to Manchester is now in place.

Rail and Metrolink services

Navigation Road is located on the Altrincham Line with trams towards Altrincham stopping every 6 minutes during the day, Mondays to Saturdays, every 12 minutes Monday to Saturday evenings and Sunday daytime and every 15 minutes Sunday evenings. Trams also head towards Manchester and Bury, with the Monday to Saturday daytime service running every 12 minutes each to Manchester Piccadilly or Bury, while evening and Sundays journeys run to Manchester Piccadilly.

Connecting bus routes

Navigation Road station is served by service 20, which runs to Altrincham and to Timperley Grange. The Monday-Saturday daytime service is run by Manchester Community Transport
