Nathuakhan lies in the heart of the fruit basket of the Kumaon. It is a serene mountain retreat, perfect at any time of the year for a nice vacation. It is north–east facing and has a predominantly temperate eco system.

It is the birthplace of several freedom fighters like SHRI DHAN SINGH NEGI, SHRI UDAI SINGH NEGI, SHRI JAGAT SINGH NEGI, SHRI SHIV NARAYAN SINGH NEGI AND SHRI HARAK SINGH NEGI which made this place an important centre of national struggle against the British.

well the two sons of the great freedom fighter shri dhan singh negi were also active in the politics for many years.
shri shiv narayan singh negi was one of the founder of co-operative bank and were m.l.a. in nainital constituency for congress and shri harak singh negi was the block pramukh of ramgarh block for consecutive 15 years and were also associated with kisaan sangharsh vaahini at that time.
