 to an Iranian Azeri family. During Iranian Revolution she was in Tabriz and participated in the revolution as a communist.

Her husband, who was also a political activist, was executed on the date of the couple's anniversary. His execution became her motivation to fight against capital punishment.

She is currently living and working in Germany
