in March 1965. Dean is able to pass all the combat preparations in order to prepare to fight in the jungle. Dean was able to meet his new squad. He met squadleader Zook, and his squadmates, Hoss, Greaser, and Smooth. As they were playing football, the Da Nang military base is under attack by mortar rounds. Dean, along with his squad, prepare for their first mission, to find the Vietcong mortars and destroy them. As Dean and his squad were heading to a village, they were under attack by a small squad of Vietcong villagers. The squad is able to wipe out the Vietcong and heads to a bunker, under Vietcong's control. Dean is able to call an artillery strike, destroying the bunker and the mortar rounds. As the squad was about to evacuate, they were under attack by a larger Vietcong platoon. The Vietcong platton is wiped out by a napalm strike. A couple of days later, the squad is heading to a hamlet near Da Nang to investigate increasing Vietcong activities. Dean's APC got stuck in the rice paddes and as they came out, they were under heavy attack by surrounding Vietcong forces. Dean and Hoss, his close friend, were able to push the VC to the stream, that leads to the hamlet. Dean and Hoss were able to meet the entire squadmembers. Unfortunately, the reporter, Donald Greenawald, and his camerament interfere with their mission. They were able to reach the hamlet, encountering horrified villagers. However, the horrifiled villagers were Vietcong. As one of the villagers was about to use his grenade, Dean is able to shoot him and an enduring battle in the hamlet begins. Dean and the squad is able to eliminate the VC in the hamlet, but they were missing someone. Donald and the cameraman were missing (and possibly kidnapped by the Vietcong). The squad is able to kill the kidnapping Vietcong and rescue the reporter and the cameraman. The squad and the newscrew were extracted safely.

Couple of weeks later, MACV-SOG offers Dean and Greaser to do one of their top secret mission: Capture one of the top Vietcong commander and bring him for questioning. Dean and Greaser accepted this offer and gone aboard on a patrol boat. As they were traveling on a river, they were under attack by the Vietcong from the treeline and the huts. They were able to survive the ambush and head silently to the village. Dean and Greaser were able to pass through the VC headquarters. Dean and Greaser killed the bodyguards of Commander Troung (their target for questioning). Greaser knocked Troung unconscious and reached the extraction point. MACV-SOG and the United States military learns that the Vietcong were preparing to launch a two-prong attack to wipe off the military base in Da Nang. Apparently, he made incorrect artillery coordinates which in some situations, killing the U.S. marines instead of the Vietcong bunkers. Dean and his squad must kill the Vietcong around the bunkers in order to put statchel charges on the bunkers. They were able to take out the bunkers while seeing other pinned marines being killed by friendly artillery fire. The squad meet McFadden again, this time, Zook began to rage on him for improperly setting coordinates. Zook and McFadden's argument got interfered by Dandridge, one of the commanders of the operation. Zook and the rest of the squad continue on to aid the U.S. convoy being under attack by a Vietcong bunker and the forces. The squad push up to reach the convoy, seeing that half of the convoy is being destroyed. Zook begins to suppressing fire on the bunker, but got shot in the chest. Dean throws a smoke grenade to coordinate for the U.S. air force. The F4 Phantoms use napalm, destroying the bunker and the incoming VC forces. , one of the most fortified Vietcong strongholds in the Vietnam War. The ARVN Rangers, Hodges, and Dean were under attack by the Vietcong forces. They were able to wipe them out, before they began their own ambush, to destroy a VC convoy consisting of food and supples. They succeed their ambush and continue to locate a small Vietcong base nearby. They came to the base, killing the Vietcong. Hodges realized that the base has a complex tunnel system below the small base. Dean came down to the tunnel system to gather intelligence while dealing any encounters. Dean is able to gather the intelligence and the team were extracted. The U.S. military and ARVN forces prepares to launch and assault on Iron Triangle. Dean became a gunner for the helicopter after the original gunner got killed. The helicopter got a direct hit by a RPG7 rocket. Dean was able to regain conscious, seeing the squad being pinned down by the large quantities of the Vietcong forces. Reinforcments came and push off the offensive VC forces. Their main objective is to destroy the food cache. They were able to destroy the food cache. In a unexpected event, a nearby helicopter got shot down by an AA gun. Dean is able to destroy the AA guns and rescue the pilots while holding up at a destroyed church to deal with the outnumbering VC forces coming from the jungle. They were rescued as napalm destroyed the jungle, along with the VC reinforcements.

Dean and Hodges were sent to Khe Sanh to aid the marines. Dean reunited his friends under commander Dandridge, the current squadleader to replace the deceased Zook. A new member joined the squad, Dean's younger brother, Jamie Shepard. Dean has read one of his father's letters that Jamie has struggled to stay out of trouble and avoid arrest for burning down houses and causing vandalism by joining the U.S. Marines. Along with Jamie, the squad establish an outpost around Khe Sanh while meeting stiff resistance from the North Vietnamese Army (NVA) the more disciplined forces than the Vietcong counterpart. As the squad went back to the base, Dandridge request an ambush on the NVA, who they were coming to attack the base. The squad is able to succeed the ambush and reach back to the base. Couple of weeks later, the marines at Khe Sanh encounters strong offensive attacks from the North Vietnamese. Dean and the squad were caught in a surprise attack conducted by the North Vietnamese. They hold the NVA off in their foxholes until the commander ordered them to withdrawal. The marines left their position, allowing the NVA to take the position. The squad crosses the steep marshes while being frequently ambushed by the NVA. They were able to survive and assist Dandridge and his marines to hold off Hill 885. They repelled the NVA offensive attack and begin to reclaim their original positions. The marines charged onto Hill 881N, only to face relentless NVA firepower. As Dean was about to take an M67

Dean and Hoss, along with other marines, began to reclaimed the Perfume River as they begin to take the Administration Building. They succeeded on taking the building while losing their tanks and marines. They entered the building, wiping out any resistance. As they wipe the NVA out of the building, Dean and Hoss met Dandridge to take the church in order to claim the viewpoint of Hue. With the assisance of the Ontos tank, they claim the church. As they reach to the backyard of the church, a mass grave is revealed to them. Bodies of civilians were covered in white powder. They realized that the NVA should not claim Hue and must push them back. Two weeks later, Hue is now in ruins as the flames consumed the city. Dean and Hoss joins Captain Nguyen Van Bao and his men to reach the Citadel to fend off the NVA offensive. They encounter strong NVA defenses as they try to cripple their offensive attack on the Citadel. The squad finds scattered ARVN units and reach the Citadel. Dean, Hoss, and Dandridge reach to Khe Sanh, but Dandridge was killed on the air strip as the airplane tail ripped off from the body as Dandridge jumped from the C-130 cargo plane. Dean and Hoss took cover from mortars and artillery rounds as scattered U.S. units attempts to defend at all cost, in one point, Dean mans a M60 machine gun to fend off the NVA sappers. Dean and Hoss meet the commander of the airbase, telling them that the squad is in a separate outpost, which they must be rescued before the B-52 bombers destroys the outpost along with the NVA. Dean and Hoss travels to the outpost, encountering NVA units who were going to the outpost. Dean and Hoss managed to kill the units and rescued their old friends Greaser and Smooth and Dean's younger brother, Jaime. As the squad was about to leave, Jaime got hit by a mortar round. Dean pick Jaime up and run back to the airbase. They finally reach to the airbase, witnessing the tremendous firepower from the B-52 bombers as they kill the pursuing NVA forces. , Men of Valor receives a score of 7.9 out of 10. Gamespot says that the game gives strong historical content while allowing the player to witness the action. There were some criticisms, however. Terrible friendly AI and some minor technical issues prevented this game from earning a higher score. The sales of Men of Valor is somewhat low since there was little advertisement, however, it receives some strong praise especially regarding the strong historical contents of the Vietnam War.
